Terms and conditions
1. Introduction
The present terms and conditions of sale apply unconditionally and without reserve to the purchase of any service offered by Lisa Jayne Wood. The Client must take note of these terms and conditions before placing an order.
These Terms and Conditions are accessible at all times on Lisa Jayne Wood’s website www.yourenglishself.com and overrule, if necessary, all other versions or any conflicting documents. The Client declares that they have taken note of the present Terms and Conditions of sale and have accepted these conditions, as well as the terms of use of the website www.yourenglishself.com by ticking the required box(es) in the Client contract form provided before purchase.
As these Terms and Conditions of sale may be subject to future modifications, the version that applies to the Client’s purchase is the current one available on the website www.yourenglishself.com on the date the order is placed.
2. Services
2.1 Coaching Courses
Courses are designed according to learners individual needs and preferences and are intended for learners 13+ years old (from elementary level) I offer coaching courses to individuals and small groups.
Courses are divided into modules (eight lessons.) Learners can purchase lessons individually, a complete module, pay in installments or a complete course. Depending on the learners’ needs it may be necessary to purchase more than one module to complete a course.
These lessons/modules are non transferable. A series of pre-paid lessons/modules booked in the name of a particular Client cannot then be transferred to a third party.
Courses are delivered synchronously and asynchronously. Face to face lessons may be arranged at the discretion of Lisa Jayne Wood for Clients based within a 70 km radius of the service provider.
Dates of courses will be determined by the Client and Lisa Jayne Wood.
A module includes:
- Live sessions (synchronous) delivered online via a video conferencing platform such as www.zoom.us (number and length of sessions will be determined by Client and Lisa Jayne Wood
- Access to the members’ area (asynchronous) where clients will find pre/post live session materials and resources, recordings of live sessions (if applicable) until course completion.
2.2 Culture Cafe
The Culture Cafe is a community to develop speaking skills in English through discussion on topics related to cultural issues. The Culture Cafe promotes respect, tolerance and empathy. We aim to build bridges and break down cultural and linguistic barriers, creating a better world for future generations.
I offer 4 week fluency programmes.
A programme includes:
- x2 live sessions per module
- x3 speaking challenges per module
- group feedback (individual feedback for Culture Club+ members
- access to the community forum
2. 3 Workshops
Periodically I offer online workshops delivered synchronously to explore and practise in more depth different skills related to developing autonomy and fluency. Dates and topics for workshops will be published on my website and social media platforms.
3. Payment
The sale of Services will not be considered definitive until after a quotation has been provided by Lisa Jayne Wood and the acknowledgement of the order confirmation has been sent to the Client by email. The quotations are valid for a duration of 28 days. Payment is by PayPal. If the Client has a valid reason for not using PayPal alternative methods of payment will be considered.
3.1 Coaching Courses
3.1.1 Individual lessons
Payment for the lesson is due in full at least 24 hours before the lesson begins.
3.1.2 A module
Payment for the module is due in full at least 24 hours before the module begins (a 10% discount is applied)
3.1.3 One installment
A course can be paid for in one installment
- the full amount must be paid at least 24 hours before the course begins (See 4 Special Offers)
3.2 Culture Cafe
Payment for the Culture Cafe fluency programmes is due in full at least 24 hours before the module starts.
3.3 Workshops
Payment for the workshop is due in full at least 24 hours before the workshop begins.
Lisa Jayne Wood is not obliged to provide any of the above services ordered if the price has not been fully paid according to the above terms. The payments made by the Client are not considered complete until notification of payment has been received by Lisa Jayne Wood.
4. Special offers
- If a client pays for a course of up to three modules in one installment, a 20% discount will be applied.
- Clients receive a 20% discount if they refer someone. This discount is applied to the Client and their referral for a maximum of 3 modules. In the event a Client refers more than person to the group, the 20% discount will only be given once to the Client and once to each person the Client brings.
- Periodic promotional discounts will be offered (back to school, new Year, student concessions, international celebrations etc)
5. Internet connection
The Client has the responsibility to check that their internet connection is of sufficient quality to undertake online lessons. No refunds are given due to connection quality or speed. The Client must posses the following:
- A broadband internet connection
- The latest version of the website conferencing platform www.zoom.us or similar platform.
- A microphone headset/pair of headphones
- A webcam.
The Client should log in to the web conferencing platform at least 5 minutes before the start of the session to test the Internet connection and audio equipment.
During the lesson, if Lisa Jayne Wood has a technical issue which lasts less than 15 minutes, we will catch up the time in the following class. If the issue lasts more than 15 minutes, the class will be rescheduled.
In the case of Culture Cafe meet ups/talks and Workshops they will be rescheduled if the problem persists/lasts for more than 15 minutes.
If the Client has a technical problem, the lesson can be neither refunded nor rescheduled.
6. Sharing lessons with third parties
Lesson content and materials cannot be shared with third parties as they are designed for each specific Client/Group. Each new Client/Group is required to contact Lisa Jayne Wood to book and pay for their own course.
7. Lateness
7.1 Live online sessions
7.1.1 1-to-1 classes
The Client must be on time for live sessions and should log in to the web conferencing platform at least five minutes before the session is due to start.
The Client must inform Lisa Jayne Wood of a late arrival to the session with as much notice as possible and at least 60 minutes before it is due to start (by email, SMS or phone call). If the Client is more than 15 minutes late for a session and has not informed Lisa Jayne Wood prior to the session, Lisa Jayne Wood reserves the right to cancel without a refund or rescheduling. If the Client is more than 15 minutes late with a valid justification, and has informed Lisa Jayne Wood before the live session, we can catch up the lost time or reschedule the class.
7.1.2 Group classes
Clients must be on time for live sessions and should log in to the web conferencing platform at least five minutes before the session is due to start.
If all Clients are more than 15 minutes late for a live session and have not informed Lisa Jayne Wood before the lesson, Lisa Jayne Wood reserves the right to cancel the session without a refund or rescheduling.
If all Clients are more than 15 minutes late with a valid justification, and have informed Lisa Jayne Wood before the class, we can catch up the lost time or reschedule the class.
Due to the nature of group sessions it is impossible to catch up the time or reschedule the session unless all members of the group inform Lisa Jayne Wood of their late arrival at least 60 minutes before the live session is due to begin (by email, sms or phone call.)
If one client is late to the live session, they can join the session at any point and then catch up on what they missed in the recording of the live session.
7.2 Culture Cafe
Clients must be on time for Culture Cafe meet ups and should log in to the web conferencing platform at least five minutes before the session is due to start.
Lisa Jayne Wood will not refund or reschedule meet ups that the Client cannot attend. Minutes/materials from the meet up will be posted in the members’ area where the Client is invited to join in the post session discussion.
7.3 Workshops
Clients must be on time for Workshops and should log in to the web conferencing platform at least five minutes before the it is due to start.
No refunds can be offered for arriving late to a workshop.
8. Cancelling or rescheduling a live session
8.1 Live online sessions (Coaching courses)
8.1.1 1-to-1 classes
If the Client cannot attend a live session for whatever reason, they must inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours in advance (by email, SMS or phone call) and the session will be rescheduled. If the Client does not attend a live session and does not inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours before the scheduled live session, the lesson will be invoiced in full and the live session will not be rescheduled or refunded*
In the event of illness please inform with as much notice as possible.
8.1.2 Group classes
Due to the nature of group sessions it is impossible to cancel or reschedule the live session unless all members of the group agree to this and all inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours before the live session is due to begin (by email, SMS or phone call.)
If a client in the group cannot attend the live session for whatever reason (including illness), they can watch the recording of the session at a later date.
I will always inform the Client at least 24 hours in advance if I need to reschedule a class due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of illness I will inform the Client with as much notice as possible and reschedule at a time that is convenient to the Client. In the event that the live session cannot be rescheduled I will refund the cost of the live session.
8.2 Culture Cafe
I will always inform the Client at least 24 hours in advance if I need to reschedule a Culture Cafe meet up due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of illness I will inform the Client with as much notice as possible and reschedule at a time that is convenient to the group. In the event that the live meetup cannot be rescheduled I will refund the cost of the live session.
If a Culture Cafe talk cannot be hosted due to unforeseen circumstances, the Client responsible for organising it, must inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours in advance (by email, SMS or phone call) and the talk will be rescheduled. In the event that the talk cannot be rescheduled I will refund the cost of the talk.
If the Client does not inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours before the scheduled talk, it will be invoiced in full and will not be rescheduled or refunded* In the event of illness please inform with as much notice as possible.
8.3 Workshops
If the Client cannot attend the Workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, they must inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours in advance (by email, SMS or phone call) and payment for the workshop will be refunded in full. If the Client does not inform Lisa Jayne Wood at least 24 hours before the scheduled Workshop, it will be invoiced in full and will not be refunded. In the event of illness please inform with as much notice as possible.
9. Complaints/grievances
All grievances will be taken with the utmost seriousness and any complaints should be addressed to Lisa Jayne Wood in writing, by email or letter.
10. Data protection
Clients based in the European Union have, according to EU legislation, a permanent right to access, modify, rectify and rebut their personal information. This right can be exercised according to the terms and modalities defined in our Privacy Policy.
11. Copyright of materials
Lisa Jayne Wood retains the copyright of all tuition materials and recorded sessions provided unless otherwise stated. Teaching materials may be used freely for educational, non-commercial purposes only. All materials used must be accredited to Lisa Jayne Wood. Organisations and individuals wishing to use such material for any other purpose should contact Lisa Jayne Wood.
*Refunds
No refunds are given for pre-paid modules under any circumstances. Modules are designed to be completed in their entirety and once the Client has bought a module(s) they must finish them in order to achieve their objectives. Every effort will be made to reschedule any missed live sessions where appropriate.
